And away We go!

I finished my Roombox! it even has a roof..it's a shanty but I might add a few more things too it, it needs lights but I dont know how to do that so I'll add that later

it took a while to finish is and I was sick with the flu while I was workign on it but it's all put together and done just in time for the contest I have to admit that the outside of the box isn't finished, I wanted to add to it and make a modern roombox to go on the side but that might make it too big..and the chair will have to be repainted....I dont like that color and I didn't like the yellow so brown it is.

Rich wants me to put a few fishing poles and deer antlers in it so he can display it at the shop, I might do that and just let him have it.
I cant believe I finally finished this..thanks for allowing me to join in the contest and good luck to everyone

Hugs
Marisa :)

now on to the happy!

  3. It's an exciting way you have decorated your walls. I also really good like your black & white checkered floor. It is a fine multi room you have made, here are both kitchen, dining area and bedrooms. Smart made. Good luck.

  4. LOL! I'm typing to INSTANT REPLAY! "No, I can't GET ENOUGH, I CAN"T GET ENOUGH!"

Your room box is a triumph, Marisa!! Great job --and you did it while sick? You poor thing --glad to hear you're recovered.

I kind of liked the pop of yellow on the chair --or maybe red?

Good luck with the contest! "EEE-EYE! EEE-EYE! EEE-EYE!"

  9. This is really a fantastic project - and I love your solution with the walls. Btw, I learned a new word, I only knew the word shanty as a typical sailor's song (I have to admit it, that's our folk music between the shores of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea - LOL). Sorry to hear you've been sick like me, so let's send those damn viruses on a highway to hell together... ;O)

    Greetings

    1. actually Norma I have to credit you for this, since I've been going to your blog I've learned how to make things fit together so I really should be thanking you and sorry for using slang on your blog (we arent' allowed to use it on the phones where I work so we use it on the floor..we're rebels at work.)

Im glad it made you smile though

  11. Helllo Marisa! I think your little shanty is really cute and the idea to add some fishing poles and some antlers is another good idea! I think that your little wood stove turned out well too. I like the red color on the chair because the yellow was too bright but now its just right! Good luck with the contest Marisa and I would like to thank you for all your lovely comments on my blog regarding the stone cottage parlor. BUT, I have got to commend you on the trip down memory lane with the insert of the INSTANT REPLAY video at the end of this posting. I use to GET DOWN' at the disco to this which was my favorite song because of the catchy lyrics and the fast beat! I forgot how long it actually was but back in the day, the songs were never long enough when you were boogying on the dance floor! hahah
Good luck with the Undersized Urbanite contest, Marisa! You ARE the bomb!

    1. I remember racing home after the clubs closed in LA because I had missed my midnight curfew.(I snuck away from my own sweet sixteen party with a cute boy..I dont even remember his name but he was a great kisser) also climbing through a window in clunky heels in a skirt was a real bitch....good times though

      we're all the bomb :)

  12. If a shanty can be cozy, yours is! Very creative, I love the walls, I have visions of generations of a family using this shanty, and reading the walls as a history lesson. Well done!

    1. HAHA..I was thinking it would be something that Frasiers Dad would like and then his sons would accidently burn it down and build him a new one like they did with his chair ;)

  13. Hello Marisa! I left you a comment a few days ago but I think that I hit the incorrect key and it possibly went astray. I want to wish you all the best with the Undersized Urabanite Contest! I think that your shanty has a great theme and I I like the little details that you have incorporated! You made a wise decision to paint the chair red it really ties it all together. Good Luck!

  15. I think all the antiquing and weathering of your pieces really makes the space, and the walls are very cool! Working on tedious things when you're sick is no picnic, so kudos to you for pushing through and finishing.
As a side note, I have a couple of electricity tutorials for your future lights, and I'm always open to email questions should you have any trouble :) Cheers!

  22. Hi Marisa, so glad I made it to your blog today. Sorry to hear you've been sick, but you should be well by this time......sorry took me so long to wish you well. I love your room box, you did a wonderful job. It made me remember something my Mom told me long ago about her mother papering the walls with newspaper. I had forgotten and your little roombox jogged my memory...thank you for that.
    Love and hugs,
    Judy
