Someone ate my Porridge!

Good Morning,
Im a bit late with posting becasue we had a death in the family I didnt feel like doing anything for a while, then I came home to find my boxes gone..stolen right off the wall while I was at work..I was a bit shocked because I figured the thief must be a rogue miniaturist so I set out to find her/him/them when my Dear Husband walked in..from now on we'll call him DH..he explained to me that he had sold my boxes to his customers..everything went black ..not really I just fumed and smiled while i looked for things to hit him with he also said that the lady next door wanted a mini baby shower gift for her daughter in law who is having a baby ...he told her I would make her something...  my eye widened  I stopped looking for things to hit him with and started looking for things to throw at him     and my smile deepened.
if you want to see what I came up with take a peek below:

as you can see I made little mattresses and little shelves for the boxes *you dont put pillows in the crib you'll smother the baby*  I was just going to leave the pink crib alone but I went a little nuts with the puffy paint, I put little books on the shelvs and even added a banner (I dunno why people do that *put banners on their mini displays*  but I figured the lady would like it) so that's it I hope you like them for a shant be making more..oh damn..I forgot I have two people that I work with that a having babies..I'll have to make two more..oh well I need some cheering up so grab your kitten heels,..gloves and cute hat with a veil..we're going back to the 80's:

Have a wonderful week!  Love Marisa :)

  1. At some point we get crowded in with little things, eventually you would start finding new homes for them anyways *lol*

Best spirits to you and your family in your loss hon ;)

  2. I was waiting for a saying at the end like "No husband got seriously injured in the making of this post"... *LOL* I think I can imagine the feelings you had to go through... but after first shock - wow, what a great surprise! And isn't it always the best reward if people like what you do? That's really great news - of course except for the tragedy in your family, sorry to hear that.

    Greetings
    Birgit

  5. Hi Marisa,
Sorry to hear someone in your family has died, my condolences and I hope you are well.
You'd better lock up your minis in the future but I am sure that the customers and lady next door will be happy with the baby minis!

  6. Space gets to be a problem not only for the finished miniatures, but for the craft materials as well. The baby boxes are very cute.

  7. Hi Marisa! Sorry to hear about the death in your family. I know that miniatures takes us out of the Real World where death Never happens and where there is always 'good times', because it is a frozen fantasy, but the real world is always still with us. I extend my condolences to you and all of your family members.

I see that you have covered your bases with the boxes and I bet you had a lot of fun making them, too! What a great idea for shower gifts, and now you have 2 more to do? Well, Practice makes perfect. It will be interesting to see how the next 2 turn out, I always find that if I am making more of the same thing that I think of new stuff for the later ones that I wished I had thought of for the first one! Then I am back to fiddle with the finished ones all over again. I like the idea of the banner! They look right for your scenes, although I think that they are hanging a bit low and the baby's mother could find herself tangled up in it!
(What a consuming hobby this is! )
Thanks for 'reminding' me of the Naked Eyes video. Another Burt Bacharach, oldie but goodie!

    1. Yes I see now that they are a bit low so I will raise them a bit more ..they are still at home unless Rich has found them and bestowed them upon my intended victim..just kidding my other boxes (I found two more) are going to be something different but I will do two crib diorama's I have the whole thing planned out in my head..no need to worry..I'll get to them after I finish my roombox (poor thing needs a bit of work)

  10. Hi Marisa, I didn't get a chance to read my blogs yesterday, but now I'm here. I love Giac's comment about your husband not being in intensive care! LOL! That IS quite a compliment that people bought them and that your husband thought they would sell. It shows how proud he is of you and your work. Way to go *virtual high-five*! I'm sorry for your recent loss. Thank goodness we have minis during both the happy and sad times. Thank you for that link you left me on my blog. I pinned a bunch of those tutorials for later--how thoughtful of you! xo Jennifer

  11. Sorry for your loss Marisa. I think your husband is getting you back to work on minis to help your spirits a little.
I love that he sold your work! He can be your art dealer. The baby scenes are so cute. And I love the bunting banner. I'm one of the crazy people that loves to use them. LOL! I think they look happy. You are doing great work as usual.
    hugs♥,

Meanwhile; your work got sold!!! Hmmm.....I that's indeed quite a compliment! But then you are the queen of creating amazing mini's out of plain cardboard or paper :D
